FAQs about Sound Bath

What is a Sound Bath Healing ?

A sound bath healing is a full body meditative experience. You will lie down and listen to resonant sounds. This involves singing crystal bowls, which create an echoing sound that 'bathes' people. Some people refer to sound bathing as a healing practice.

What is a Sound Bath Healing do to your body?

Sound Baths elicit the relaxation response and in the relaxation response, the body relaxes, the blood pressure lowers, heart rate lowers and the body basically goes into healing mode.

What happens to your brain during Sound Bath Healing?

Sound all around you creates a 'bath' of visceral sound where you can feel the frequency of sound in the deepest parts of your body. A sound bath creates a meditative state where the brain emits healing brainwaves.

Is it ok to fall asleep in a Sound Bath Healing ?

Falling asleep is completely welcome and normal. The sound is intentionally relaxing and the sound waves are said to activate your body's natural healing abilities which often means 'sleep'. Falling asleep is very common especially the first few times.

Sound Bath Healing

What is a Sound Bath?

A sound bath uses waves of soothing, echoing sound to let your body and mind reset to a frequency found within the sounds of the crystal bowls. Feel the vibration and natural decompression that comes with the harmony of sound.

Allow yourself to consciously experience this quiet and peaceful journey. Come into a deeper state of relaxation followed by a feeling of awareness with soothing, overlapping vibrations.

Sound baths can help release stress, anxiety and even promote better sleep. This provides a deep relaxation that will leave you feeling rested and peaceful.

Restorative Yoga

What is Restorative Yoga + why should I try this?

Restorative Yoga classes offer fewer poses with longer holds. Students can use the support of props such as blankets, blocks and foam rollers to support their bodies into postures to encourage relaxation and restoration.

This style of yoga “restores” the body to its parasympathetic nervous system function, which, in turn, helps the body rest, heal, and restore balance. By allowing time for longer asanas (postures or poses) and deeper breathing, restorative yoga helps elicit the relaxation response. This type of yoga focuses on taking your body out of fight or flight mode. This is so important as we live in a high pace environment that has constant stimulation.

Try this style of yoga with Bijou at our monthly sound bath + restorative yoga on May 11 from 5:30-7pm. We combine 45 minutes of restorative yoga followed by 40 minutes of Sound Bath Healing.
